Benefits of mum and baby yoga for mums: #2 – Helps you ease back into using your body again
If you have been practicing yoga and you are itching to get started again, mum and baby yoga is a great place to start. Perhaps you’ve never done yoga (or any other regular activity) before, but want to help your body recover and strengthen gently. We realise that your body is still recovering from birth and the class suited for all birth experiences and is structured around healing the post-natal aches and pains. Carrying your baby around can take a toll on your back, neck and shoulders so a lot of focus is placed on strengthening your abdominal and back muscles for core strength and to relieve tension and neck and shoulder aches and pains. If you were already active before and during your pregnancy, you will still find enormous benefit in the gentle exercise of post natal yoga as a way of relaxing and unwinding with your baby.

Benefits of mum and baby yoga for mums: #3 – Emotional wellbeing
We are all well aware that pregnancy and the first few months after the birth of your child can be an emotional roller coaster ride, of ups and downs, laughter and tears. This is completely normal, and as mums we understand exactly what you are going through and is why so many health professionals recommend mum and baby yoga classes to new mums. All the stretches, poses and breathing exercises will help you reconnect and ground yourself improving your physical and more importantly your emotional and mental well being. Your baby (not to mention the rest of your family) can sense when you are stressed. This time is so important for you to take care of yourself and allow for some mummy time as well.
Benefits of mum and baby yoga for mums: #4 – It is a safe environment for mums
Perhaps my favourite reason of all.
Many new mums are to afraid to do anything or go anywhere with a new baby. It is a very common feeling to feel like you are being judged or scrutinised on every aspect of being a mum. It is often less stressful and far easier to choose to stay at home with your baby, particularly if are worried about feeds and nappy changing and how much your baby will cry.
Mum and Baby yoga teachers are used to babies crying, sleeping, pooping and more. They are babies, it’s what they do. We are also used to mums feeling insecure, a little weepy, anxious, tired and nervous or just a little overwhelmed and under confident, which is why we always provide a secure, nurturing environment for mums too. Our small groups are designed to ensure all mums feel safe to open up and express themselves and above all to have fun and learn through play and bonding.
Benefits of mum and baby yoga for mums: #5 – Yoga for Mums is a great opportunity to meet other new mums
Mum and baby yoga classes are for new mums with their babies so there is no better place to meet up with likeminded parents, experiencing and feeling exactly what you are going through.
It is the perfect opportunity to share parenting stories and share ideas or even get advice from other parents.
